Marco Island Assisted Living Facility

The Marco Island Assisted Living Facility, developed by Watermark Retirement Communities, is set to redefine senior living with its focus on comfort, safety, and quality of life upon its planned opening in Summer 2024. Comprising 66 Assisted Living and 20 Memory Care residences, each studio and one-bedroom space is crafted to provide a supportive environment for its residents.

As part of the project team, my involvement began during the construction document phase. I was tasked with developing detailed plans, sections, elevations, and construction details, as well as spearheading the development of Life Safety Plans. I navigated Florida Building Codes and accessibility standards to enhance safety and accessibility as they relate to the unique needs and mobility limitations of the senior population - particularly focusing on optimizing exit strategies and signage and restroom facilities for residents and staff.

This project served as an invaluable learning experience, allowing me to delve into the nuances of code compliance and the importance of considering even the most intricate requirements in design. As the Marco Island Assisted Living Facility nears completion, I am proud to have played a role in shaping a space where safety, comfort, and well-being are paramount—a true testament to the commitment to excellence in senior living.
